From September 2013 the government has provided schools with funding to be spent  on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The funding must be spent on improving the provision of Physical Education and Sport for the benefit of pupils, encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Sir John Lillie Primary receives annually, an initial figure of £16,000 plus £10 per pupil per year. Totaling around £18,400.
